SHERIDAN CLIFFORD, INTERN COUNSELLOR

As a child and adolescent, I often found myself listening to and supporting my peers. I knew it was an honour and privilege to be trusted by others, and an honour to be viewed as a safe, non-judgmental, and encouraging support. Needless to say, becoming a counsellor has been a life-long dream. I am overjoyed to be a counselling intern with South Okanagan Counselling!

To this day, I believe that it is an immense honour to be entrusted with the concerns, struggles, and pains of others, and to provide them with a safe space to heal. I believe humans are intrinsically worthy, deserving of full inclusion and participation, beautifully diverse, and built to belong. I believe we are intricate beings who are impacted by our pasts, our current environments, and overarching systemic issues. I believe we are incredibly resilient and carry more wisdom than we might realize.

As your counsellor, I will seek to foster our therapeutic connection with empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. It is my desire to provide the warmth and non-judgment necessary for you to grow to accept yourself, believe in the power of connection, and unlock your inner wisdom and ability to heal. I will seek to listen and understand, collaborate towards your goals, integrate techniques to suit your needs, provide psychoeducational tools, and empower you to take the reins on your journey into fuller healing and wellness.

Outside of the counselling office, I enjoy being in nature, running, biking, and yoga.

I am currently in the final stretch of a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program through Yorkville University. I am a student member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
