STEPHANIE MCALISTER, MC, RCC
From my early childhood I always knew that I wanted to be a counsellor. This desire has led me to obtain
both academic and professional experience in the counselling field. I feel that everyone can benefit from
counselling supports no matter what is going on in their lives. I am passionate about helping people
overcome trials and tribulations and helping them to develop into the best version of themselves, while
still acknowledging that each person has their own journey to becoming the best version of themselves.
As your counsellor I feel that it is my job to support you in the journey you are on to improving yourself.
This can look different for each person and I help with this through emotional support, providing
psycho-educational tools, and presenting alternative perspectives. It is my goal to provide my clients
with a safe and non-judgmental place, where they feel heard and understood. I have primarily worked
with individuals who have experienced trauma and those seeking support with their mental health. I
have worked in various group counselling settings with both adults and children. Currently, I work with
adults and teens seeking support with mental health, general wellness, and trauma. I believe in
evidence-based therapy and use scientifically proven methods in my practice.
I have earned a B.A. in psychology and criminology from Western University (2017), and a M.A. in
Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2021). I have been working as a counsellor since 2020.
I am a member in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
